DIVINE WHISPER with FR. PIUSRALPH EFFIONG, SMMM

SATURDAY OF THE 23RD WEEK IN ORDINARY TIME OF THE YEAR (B)
Mystery of the day: Joyful

"If a man loves me, he will keep my word, says the Lord; and my Father will love him, and we will come to him."  (John 14:23)

Every game has a rule. To love the game means to keep to the rule. One cannot boldly say: "I love the game" when he is not ready to keep the rule of the game.

This call to mind our profession of loving God. While some will say: "He is my Lord and Master"; others will claim to be the ambassador of the Goodnews which Christ represents, etc. Amidst this claim and Profession there is no iota of "God's love" found in their hearts.

Today, we are being instructed by Evangelist John in these words:

"If a man loves me, he will keep my word, says the Lord; and my Father will love him, and we will come to him."  (John 14:23)

This admonition goes with a task and challenge to overcome. The love of God springs from ourselves, friends and enemies. For in loving others, the love of God is fully manifested.

In the same vein, Evangelist Luke reminded us of the Words of our Lord:

"Why do you call me 'Lord, Lord,' and not do what I tell you? Every one who comes to me and hears my words and does them, I will show you what he is like: he is like a man building a house, who dug deep, and laid the foundation upon rock; and when a flood arose, the stream broke against that house, and could not shake it, because it had been well built..." (Luke 6:46-48)

Finally, beloved in Christ if we say we love God let us keep to His Words and display concern for others in sincerity of heart. By so doing, our foundation of faith will be unshaken. And we will be sustained in His love and mercy.

Peace! Be with you 🙌

Fada PIUSRALPH prays for you

Let us pray 🙏

Almighty and eternal God, we thank You for the love, care and benevolence we enjoy from You. Grant we pray O! Lord the grace to do Your will in sincerity of heart. We ask this through Christ our Lord.  Amen.
