SATURDAY OF THE 24TH WEEK IN ORDINARY TIME OF THE YEAR (B)
Mystery of the day: Joyful
“As for the seed in the good soil, they are those who hold fast and bring forth fruit with patience.” (Luke 8:15)
Man right from time immemorial has been in search for comfort and solace. Even when God must have blessed him with one, he continue to long for more. But he suddenly forgets that every mile begins with a step.
Evangelist Luke in today's gospel pericope presents before us a call to be steadfast in faith and blossom wherever we are planted.
“As for the seed in the good soil, they are those who hold fast and bring forth fruit with patience.” (Luke 8:15)
Truly speaking, we cannot be planted on the same soil at the same time, but any soil we found ourselves we are called to be fruitful. If it needs to be manured, that has to be done in time so as to bear fruits in proper season.
Also, patience and perseverance are needed to achieve this, we need it because every fruit needs time to be matured for its harvest. Therefore, let us acknowledge in love and faith the beautiful gifts God has given us. Bearing in mind, it is not only for ourselves satisfaction but for the good of our fellow men and growth of our society.
Finally, let us keep in mind the admonition of St. Paul to Timothy:
“Keep the commandment unstained until the appearing of the Lord.” ( cf. 1 Timothy 6:13ff.)
This beautiful Pauline exhortation will serves as a reference point to redirect our thoughts and deeds to be active in our service of living out our call to perfection. And to be firm in the struggle of our Christian living.
Peace! Be with you. 🙌
