FRIDAY OF THE 24TH WEEK IN
ORDINARY TIME YEAR (B)
Mystery of the day: Sorrowful
It was an anonymous writer who said that: "Contentment is the best riches."
In the light of the above aphorism we come to the understanding of the background of today's biblical nugget which puts us on the part of "Godly contentment".
"There is great gain in godliness with contentment; for we brought nothing into the world, and we cannot take anything out of the world;..." (1 Timothy 2: 6ff.)
This solemn reminder invites us all to reflect on the level of gathering material things around us which to an extent becloud our vision to Heavenly realities.
To buttress this fact, Job in Hebrew Testament avers: "Naked I came into the world, naked shall I return" (Job 1:21)
We need to be careful in searching for comfort which cannot be found except in Christ Jesus.
Wealth only sustains if we are generous with it, else it becomes a distraction. Only in God that we can find contentment and comfort which the world cannot offer.
Finally, let us see the good we enjoy as a gift from God and then rejoice over every situation for in good and bad situation we need to bless His name.
Peace! Be with you 🙌
Fada PIUSRALPH prays for you
Let us pray 🙏
God of Love and peace, we thank You for the wonders of our being. We beseech Thee to give us the grace to be contented with what You have blessed us with. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen
