DIVINE WHISPER with FR. PIUSRALPH EFFIONG, SMMM

MONDAY OF THE 23RD WEEK IN ORDINARY TIME OF THE YEAR (B)
Mystery of the day: Joyful

"In God alone be at rest, my soul, for my hope is from him. He alone is my rock, my salvation, my fortress; never shall I falter." (Psalm 62:6-7)

When St. Augustine of Hippo in one of his reflective thoughts said: "My soul is restless, until it rest in God." Many may not understand him perfectly until one reads his confession.

St. Augustine following his confession  has tasted the good, bad and ugly sides of life, still no contentment. He had a full share of bodily pleasure, fame and glory of this ephemeral world, but he was deeply in need of solace. He became satisfied only when he encountered God through the homily of his Bishop - St. Ambrose. There and then, he became fulfilled.

This inner longing and thirsty in man for solace and peace of mind can only be found in God. It is on this note that the Psalmist re-echoes the desire of man in these lines:

In God alone be at rest, my soul, for my hope is from him. He alone is my rock, my salvation, my fortress; never shall I falter." (Psalm 62:6-7)

When God is with us, peace cannot elude us for He is the King of peace. When the turbulence of life seems to sweep our feets off from the ground God says "Peace! Be still." He gives to man peace which the world cannot give.

Absolutely, we cannot find peace outside God, for it is in Him that our souls shall be at rest. Search for Him in solitude; for you will certainly behold Him in every situation.

Peace! Be with you. 🙌

Fada PIUSRALPH prays for you 🙏

Let us pray

Almighty God, Yours is the source of who we are. Thank You for the many blessings we receive from You. In our moment of restlessness Grant us we pray peace of mind. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.
