DIVINE WHISPER with FR. PIUSRALPH EFFIONG, SMMM

SATURDAY OF THE 25TH WEEK IN ORDINARY TIME (B)
Mystery of the day: Joyful

The Lord will keep us, as a shepherd keeps his flock."   (Jeremiah 31:10)

Everyone desires protection, care and

Everyone desires protection, care and provision. Though man in his worldview may provide all these within his capability, still, there is lacuna to be filled. For man's effort is limited to his environment and arsenal within his reach; but satisfaction and fulfilment come from God.

In the light of this, Prophet Jeremiah proclaimed God's wish upon us, using the image of a shepherd - who tends, care and provides.

The Lord will keep us, as a shepherd keeps his flock."   (Jeremiah 31:10)

There is no better option that looking up to God every now and then, in joy and pains, when things are going right and when it is at the edge of collapsing. We need God to handle the steering else we lost in despair.

Beloved in Christ Jesus, let us hold on with faith to our God who is and always there to lift us up when we thought we have lost our foothold. His mercies endures forever. Rejoice and be glad for He is always there to rewrite our stories with a Joyful line.

Peace! Be with you 🙌

Fada PIUSRALPH prays for you

Let us pray 🙏

Immortal and Invisible God, we acknowledge Your unfathomable mercy and love upon us. We beseech Thee, look upon us with tender heart when we lost in despair and strengthen our faith, for only You and You alone that we can find fulfilment.  We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen

Commentary on Celebration of the Year of St. Joseph

                      APPRAISAL
                              OF
THE PLIGHTS OF ST. JOSEPH (The Husband of Mary)
A Paper presentation at the Okigwe Diocesan Celebration of the 150th Anniversary of the Declaration of St. Joseph as the Patron of the Universal Church.
Author: Rev. Fr. Prof. Jerome Ikechukwu Okonkwo
Publisher: Multi-Sectors Ltd., Owerri, Nigeria.
Year of Publication: July, 2021
Length: 63 pages
Reviewer: Rev. Fr. PiusRalph Effiong, SMMM

1.0 Introduction
The plights of St. Joseph (The Husband of Mary) arose out of the clarion call of the Holy Father, Pope Francis in his Apostolic Letter:  Patris Corde published on December 8, 2020 to mark the 150th anniversary of the declaration of St. Joseph as the patron of the Universal Church; which he equally uses the letter to declare the Year of St. Joseph which will be culminated on December 8, 2021.
It is on this note, that the author on invitation by the Local Ordinary of the Diocese of Okigwe, Imo State, Nigeria – Most Rev. Solomon Amatu to present a paper on the theme which now served as the title of this systematic theological reflection: THE PLIGHTS OF ST. JOSEPH (The Husband of Mary). The author made the work explicitly clear, garnished with the local interpretations, thus bringing the study down to earth for the understanding of all. In his reflection, he established that, it was St. Joseph who opened the door of New Testament instead of St. John the Baptist as being recorded in some documents, since he was the protector of the Word incarnate.
Therefore, he deserves a pride of place in the heart of the Church.
He painstakingly gave an in-depth definition of what “plight” is; the tripartite dimensional sources of the plights of St. Joseph and the missing links in the pastoral traditions of the Church. Then finally, made some vital recommendations and conclusion which calls for deep reflection as the celebration of the 150th anniversary of St. Joseph as the Universal Patron of the Church progresses.
2.0 Explicating the concept of “Plights” in the light of St. Joseph
The term “plight” in general understanding expresses life situation, life condition or the state of life one finds himself, whereby such a state of life becomes difficult to understand or interprets existentially, especially when this type of plight defiles the laws of nature and existentialism.
In relating it to Igbo worldview, he avers that the term could be referred to “okechi”. Which this idea flows, and hope to drive the expected consonance from the Igbo socio-religious content-analytic-affinities and their common theological grounds with their English equivalents as already stated. He married the concept with other Igbo words such as “Okeechi or Okechukwu”, which are all in content, meaning and application alternative references for the following Igbo language and linguistic implicatures. Such as: Fate, destiny, the force behind destiny, misfortunes, disaster, resignation to God’s will etc.
However, this gave rise to what he described as “the tripartite dimensional sources of St. Joseph’s Plights.” – OkechiJoseph Di Maria.

3.0 The three Tripartite Dimensional Sources of St. Joseph’s Plights
In his analysis, he came out with three dimensional sources of plights of St. Joseph.
The events surrounding the conception of Jesus Christ – God made flesh. Where Joseph intended to divorce Mary, the woman betrothed to her in private to save her dignity. A rare action among humanity in every culture.
The birth of Jesus Christ from a woman (Blessed Virgin Mary) betrothed to a certain lowly carpenter of Nazareth -St. Joseph. Which, he (Joseph) made everything possible for our Lord to have where to lay his head. As a loving father which the Holy Father in the introductory part of the Apostolic Letter (Patris Corde) captures. Here, St. Joseph played host to the shepherds and the magi on their visit to the new born baby despite the ordeals surrounding the conception of our Lord. Indeed, a symbol of obedience and resignation to God’s will.
The flight to Egypt. This particular event in the timeline history of our Lord, gives a deep interpretation of a “true fatherhood” in St. Joseph. Still a rare gesture of man. He did all these because He loves the child beyond boundaries, which portrays the love of God upon humanity devoid of our weakness and fragility. He lived in Egypt as a foreigner in order to serve and save God’s mission in Jesus and through Jesus the son of Joseph.
4.0 Missing Links in the Pastoral Traditions of the Church
Having realized St. Joseph to be inconspicuous model in Christendom. The author meticulously pinpoints the missing links in the pastoral traditions and teachings of the Church. Taking cognizance of the word of a polish writer Jan Dobraczynski in Pope Francis’ Patris Corde who described St. Joseph as “a father in the shadow.”
He asserted that, the life of St. Joseph is a credo that links theophany and theopathy. And that St. Joseph can be called God’s platform for the powers of heaven to actualize and perfect our redemption. The life of St. Joseph according to the author’s reflection, leads us to the providential harvests of divine promises and graces for all who make their prayers through St. Joseph. With all these and many other extolling qualities and attributes of St. Joseph, he captured with great interest missing links in the pastoral traditions of the Church.
Thus, called for the recognizing of St. Joseph as “the voluminous spiritual sanitary and the privy councilor who was appointed according to the orders of the courts of Heaven.”
Fr. Okonkwo observed the inclusion of the feast of St. Joseph in the breviary only in 1479 for the first time in the history of the Church in spite of the teachings and writings of the likes of St. Bernard, Pierre D’Ailly, Johannes Gerson, Hermann Josef, St. Teresa of Avila, etc. He also made reference to the effort of Pope Pius XII who in 1955 proclaimed St. Joseph as the patron of the workers on May 1. While Pope Benedict XV gave preface of St. Joseph for Masses in 1919.
He made allusion to the declaration of the Year of St. Joseph by the Holy Father in memento to mark the 150th anniversary of his pronouncement as the patron of Universal Church; as a right step in the right direction to fill in the gap created as a result of the missing links in the pastoral traditions of the Church.
5.0 Recommendations/Conclusion
He recommended that, a right place should be given to St. Joseph as the universal patron of the Church. Fr. Okonkwo also recommended that the intercession of St. Joseph should be made during Act of Contrition.
He established that the promulgation of the 150th anniversary of the declaration of St. Joseph as the universal patron of the Church is a solemn call on all Catholics to revamp the devotions to St. Joseph as the Patron of the universal Church. Having followed the mind of the Holy Father in the Apostolic Letter - Patris Corde, which he described as “Obinna/Obinna ya” meaning the Father’s heart. Thus, advocating for the celebration of the Solemnity of the Father’s Heart of Joseph on Sunday following, the solemnities Sacred Heart of Jesus and Immaculate Heart of Mary.
He further called for the return of Wednesday weekly celebration of St. Joseph as contained in Patris Corde and other historical books of the Church, alongside with the usual Saturday weekly memorial of Blessed Virgin Mary our Mother. In doing, this the pride of place suitable for St. Joseph will be properly accorded.
In conclusion, following the Holy Father, Pope Francis who described St. Joseph as a man who found happiness not in mere self-sacrifice but in self-gift. In him, there was no frustration but trust; which patient silence was the prelude to concrete expression of trust. Thus, he became “the Guardian of his own Redeemer” (cf. Redemtoris Custos AAS 82(1990), 5-34, August 15, 1998)

WEDNESDAY OF THE 25TH WEEK IN ORDINARY TIME OF THE YEAR (B)
Mystery of the day: Glorious

"For we are bondmen; yet our God has not forsaken us in our bondage, but has extended to us his steadfast love..." (Ezra 9:8-9)

It was Ezra who having discovered his nakedness (iniquities) and that of his people avers:

"For we are bondmen; yet our God has not forsaken us in our bondage, but has extended to us his steadfast love..." (Ezra 9:8-9)
This is a solemn profession made with a contrite heart. This scenario recalled the tale of a prodigal son, having come to terms with his emptiness.

We on the other part have failed and come short of the glory of God. We have rebelled against God. We have hurt the feelings of others, we betray countless times the trust bestowed on us. In many occasions we have failed in our duties as Christians, above all we make the Hoy Spirit weep over our iniquities.

Amidst these shortcomings and failings God has not forsaken us in this bondage of iniquities, as His steadfast love enshrines us now and always.

Who can measure the love of God? What can be compared with His unfathomable care and provision? Indeed, none!

Dearest friend(s) in Christ let us be more conscious of who we are, where we are and what we are doing. This gesture will certainly amounts to thanksgiving to God for His great love.

Finally, let the call to conversion by our Lord resounds in our ears as Evangelist Mark proclaimed:

"The kingdom of God is at hand; repent, and believe in the Gospel." (Mark 1:15)

Peace! Be with you. 🙌
Fada PIUSRALPH prays for you

Let us pray 🙏
Eternal Word, we acknowledge Your great love upon us. Thank You for the many blessings we have received, that which we are still receiving and many to be received.  Grant O! Lord we pray the grace to be docile to your ordinances so that we may dwell in Your peace. Through Christ our Lord. Amen

MONDAY OF THE 25TH WEEK IN ORDINARY TIME OF THE YEAR (B)
Mystery of the day: Joyful
Celebration:  Ss. Andrew Kim Taegon, Priest, and Paul Chong Hasang, and Companions, Martyrs (Memorial)

"They go out, they go out, full of tears, bearing seed for the sowing; they come back, they come back with a song, bearing their sheaves." (Psalm 126:4-5.6)

With God, the daily toil of every man ends in joy. Early rising and late to bed yield a bountiful harvest because the great provider is always at work. That is why when God is at the forefront, the work of our hand are blessed. This is our lot! This is our faith!! This is our hope!!! Only in God.

Dearest friend(s) in Christ, the wonder working God we serve is always at work for our benefit. For the Scripture has said it all, "except God watches over the city, the watchman is watching in vain."

We may toil day and night but no success come as expected. You don't need to get worried over it, God is still watching your back. In no mean time you will make a headline in the sight of men for God has done thigs for you as we acclaim with the Psalmist today. "What great deeds the Lord worked for us!" (Psalm 126:3a)

The marvel deeds of the Lord often comes with surprise. Put on your seat belt and be firmed in faith for the good will always be there for is no matter the situation.

Finally, the Psalmist re-echoes the mind of God towards us thus:

"They go out, they go out, full of tears, bearing seed for the sowing; they come back, they come back with a song, bearing their sheaves." (Psalm 126:4-5.6)

Peace!  Be with you 🙌

Fada PIUSRALPH prays for you

Let us pray 🙏

Merciful Lord, thank You for the wonders of the creation. We beseech Thee O! Lord give us the grace to look beyond the physical, but desire for Heavenly realities.  Through Christ our Lord.  Amen

DIVINE WHISPER with FR. PIUSRALPH EFFIONG, SMMM

SATURDAY OF THE 24TH WEEK IN ORDINARY TIME OF THE YEAR (B)

Mystery of the day: Joyful

“As for the seed in the good soil, they are those who hold fast and bring forth fruit with patience.” (Luke 8:15)

Man right from time immemorial has been in search for comfort and solace. Even when God must have blessed him with one, he continue to long for more. But he suddenly forgets that every mile begins with a step.

Evangelist Luke in today's gospel pericope presents before us a call to be steadfast in faith and blossom wherever we are planted.

“As for the seed in the good soil, they are those who hold fast and bring forth fruit with patience.” (Luke 8:15)

Truly speaking, we cannot be planted on the same soil at the same time, but any soil we found ourselves we are called to be fruitful. If it needs to be manured, that has to be done in time so as to bear fruits in proper season.

Also, patience and perseverance are needed to achieve this, we need it because every fruit needs time to be matured for its harvest. Therefore, let us acknowledge in love and faith the beautiful gifts God has given us. Bearing in mind, it is not only for ourselves satisfaction but for the good of our fellow men and growth of our society.

Finally, let us keep in mind the admonition of St. Paul to Timothy:

“Keep the commandment unstained until the appearing of the Lord.” ( cf. 1 Timothy 6:13ff.)

This beautiful Pauline exhortation will serves as a reference point to redirect our thoughts and deeds to be active in our service of living out our call to perfection.  And to be firm in the struggle of our Christian living.

Peace! Be with you. 🙌

Fada PIUSRALPH prays for you

Let us pray 🙏

Most merciful Lord, in gratitude accept the homage of our lips and grant us the grace to be sincere in our daily struggles so as to sow it for eternal harvest.  Through Christ our Lord. Amen

FRIDAY OF THE 24TH WEEK IN
ORDINARY TIME YEAR (B)
Mystery of the day: Sorrowful

"There is great gain in godliness with contentment; for we brought nothing into the world, and we cannot take anything out of the world;..." (1 Timothy 2: 6ff.)

It was an anonymous writer who said that: "Contentment is the best riches."
In the light of the above aphorism we come to the understanding of the background of today's biblical nugget which puts us on the part of "Godly contentment".

"There is great gain in godliness with contentment; for we brought nothing into the world, and we cannot take anything out of the world;..." (1 Timothy 2: 6ff.)

This solemn reminder invites us all to reflect on the level of gathering material things around us which to an extent becloud our vision to Heavenly realities.

To buttress this fact, Job in Hebrew Testament  avers: "Naked I came into the world, naked shall I return" (Job 1:21)
We need to be careful in searching for comfort which cannot be found except in Christ Jesus.
Wealth only sustains if we are generous with it, else it becomes a distraction. Only in God that we can find contentment and comfort which the world cannot offer.

Finally, let us see the good we enjoy as a gift from God and then rejoice over every situation for in good and bad situation we need to bless His name.
Peace! Be with you 🙌
Fada PIUSRALPH prays for you

Let us pray 🙏
God of Love and peace, we thank You for the wonders of our being. We beseech Thee to give us the grace to be contented with what You have blessed us with. We ask this through Christ our Lord.  Amen

DIVINE WHISPER with FR. PIUSRALPH EFFIONG, SMMM

TUESDAY OF THE 24TH WEEK OF ORDINARY TIME OF THE YEAR (B)
Mystery of the day: Glorious

“No one has ascended into heaven but he who descended from heaven, the Son of man. And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, so must the Son of man be lifted up, that whoever believes in him may have eternal life." (John 3:14-15)

It was Dominic Cardinal Ekandem who had "In Cruce Salus" - "In the Cross there is Salvation" as his episcopal motto. This thought of his tuned our minds to the symbolism of Cross. Which for some, Cross is an instrument of torture and public humiliation; bu for us Christians it is a sign of victory.

The book of Numbers made allusion to the Cross of Jesus Christ when the Isrealites were bitten by the serpent. Moses was instructed to make a bronze serpent which will served as a remedy to the situation with divine significance. (cf. Numbers 21:4ff.)

This symbolic event made itself manifested in the gospel pericope of Evangelist John when he said, "The Son of man will be lifted up, and whosoever that look upon Him will be saved." (cf. John 3:13ff.)

To buttress this point, St. Andrew of Crete in one of his homilies described Cross of our Lord as a great and outstanding possession any man can boast of. (cf. 2nd Office of the Reading on the Feast of Exaltation of the Cross).

He further asserted that: "Had there been no cross, death would not have been trodden underfoot, nor hell despoiled."

However, beloved in Christ Jesus let us embrace Cross with joy for when we share in the sufferings of Christ, we also rejoice exultantly when His glory is revealed.

Peace! Be with you. 🙌

Fada PIUSRALPH prays for you

Let us pray 🙏

Almighty and everlasting God, we thank You for the wonders of our being. Grant we pray O! Lord the grace to accept every Cross that comes our way as a share in Your passion so that we may be glorified on the last day. Through Christ our Lord.  Amen.

MODAY OF THE 24TH WEEK IN ORDINARY TIME OF THE YEAR (B)
Mystery of the day: Joyful
Celebration: Memorial of St. John Chrysostom (Bishop, Confessor and Doctor of the Church)

"O let there be rejoicing and gladness for all who seek you. Let them ever say, 'The LORD is great,' who long for your salvation." (Psalm 40:10.17)

The dawn of each day breaks with glad tidings beyond words. The whispering of insects, joyous melodies of birds and the fresh dew falling manifested God's abundance love on creation.

The rising sun gives hope to evey wailing heart for the salvation is near. Today, we reflect with the Psalmist who called to mind the goodness of the Lord for those who seek Him in spirit and truth saying:

"O let there be rejoicing and gladness for all who seek you. Let them ever say, 'The LORD is great,' who long for your salvation." (Psalm 40:10.17)

This proclamation also serves as a reminder for those who are in distress, stressing that whenever we call on God He will be there to comfort us, those seeking for peace will have it in full.

Finally, as this new week breaks, trust in God and He will be there for you. So that at the end we may join the rejoicing crowd with solemn acclamation: "God is great..."

Peace! Be with you 🙌

Fada PIUSRALPH prays for you

Let us pray 🙏

Merciful Lord, we thank You for the break of this dawn. Preserve us we pray and grant us the grace to seek refuge in You when meet with storm of life. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.

DIVINE WHISPER with FR. PIUSRALPH EFFIONG, SMMM

SATURDAY OF THE 23RD WEEK IN ORDINARY TIME OF THE YEAR (B)
Mystery of the day: Joyful

"If a man loves me, he will keep my word, says the Lord; and my Father will love him, and we will come to him."  (John 14:23)

Every game has a rule. To love the game means to keep to the rule. One cannot boldly say: "I love the game" when he is not ready to keep the rule of the game.

This call to mind our profession of loving God. While some will say: "He is my Lord and Master"; others will claim to be the ambassador of the Goodnews which Christ represents, etc. Amidst this claim and Profession there is no iota of "God's love" found in their hearts.

Today, we are being instructed by Evangelist John in these words:

"If a man loves me, he will keep my word, says the Lord; and my Father will love him, and we will come to him."  (John 14:23)

This admonition goes with a task and challenge to overcome. The love of God springs from ourselves, friends and enemies. For in loving others, the love of God is fully manifested.

In the same vein, Evangelist Luke reminded us of the Words of our Lord:

"Why do you call me 'Lord, Lord,' and not do what I tell you? Every one who comes to me and hears my words and does them, I will show you what he is like: he is like a man building a house, who dug deep, and laid the foundation upon rock; and when a flood arose, the stream broke against that house, and could not shake it, because it had been well built..." (Luke 6:46-48)

Finally, beloved in Christ if we say we love God let us keep to His Words and display concern for others in sincerity of heart. By so doing, our foundation of faith will be unshaken. And we will be sustained in His love and mercy.

Peace! Be with you 🙌

Fada PIUSRALPH prays for you

Let us pray 🙏

Almighty and eternal God, we thank You for the love, care and benevolence we enjoy from You. Grant we pray O! Lord the grace to do Your will in sincerity of heart. We ask this through Christ our Lord.  Amen.

DIVINE WHISPER with FR. PIUSRALPH EFFIONG, SMMM

THURSDAY OF THE 23RD WEEK IN ORDINARY TIME OF THE YEAR (B)
Mystery of the day: Luminous

“Put on love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony.” (Colossians 3:14)

The language of love right from time immemorial has been spoken in different ways. The concept of "love" is that which is "one word" but different meanings according to the understanding of the user.

In the light of this, we are all invited to wrap ourselves with unselfish love, which is the perfect bond of unity, that everything is bound together in agreement when each one seeks the best for others.

And every aspect of this gesture gives us "inner peace" which nothing can offer, just because we love and there is no room for hatred, malice and envy.

However, St. John in his first letter called to mind the essence of love among humanity, as a bond with the Divine. Stating that:

"If we love one another, God abides in us, and his love is perfected in us." (1 John 4:12)

And that it is in displaying this sacred attribute "love" that God's unfathomable love upon us is renewed and perfected.

Finally, beloved in Christ let us love beyond measure, for in doing this God Himself will abide with us.

Peace! Be with you 🙌

Fada PIUSRALPH prays for you

Let us pray 🙏

Eternal Word, You are the source of who we are and what we have out of Your love. Grant us we pray the grace to love beyond calculation, devoid of every condition that may surrounds us. This is our prayer, through Christ our Lord. Amen

DIVINE WHISPER with FR. PIUSRALPH EFFIONG, SMMM

TUESDAY OF THE 23RD WEEK IN ORDINARY TIME OF THE YEAR (B)
Mystery of the day: Sorrowful

"I chose you from the world that you should go and bear fruit, and that your fruit should abide, says the Lord." (John 15:16)

The choice of man above every other creatures springs out from God's unfathomable love for humanity. In relating it with the creation account, only man enjoyed a direct breath from God (cf. Genesis 2:7).

Despite his disobedience to the detects and ordinances of God, he still enjoyed the solace ambience of the Divine.(cf. John 3:16)

In our reflection today, Evangelist John presents us with our Lord's Words of reminder:

"I chose you from the world that you should go and bear fruit, and that your fruit should abide, says the Lord." (John 15:16)

A reminder that puts us on the Know that, we did not choose ourselves but we were chosen by God, planted with the expectation to blossom wherever we are being planted.

Sometimes, we felt we are where we find ourselves out of our making or efforts made. Better still we have worked so hard to reach the crescendo of our various professions, that is why we are there. "NO" could rightly be the answer because except God decides, our late to bed and earlier rising will be in vain. Our effort is a little push to what God has already mapped out for us. Let us not be carried away but utilize every opportunity as a precious gift from God to us for the betterment of humanity and good of the society.

It was Fr. Andy Paulinus in his thoughtful thinking who called for "Talent for common good" following his priestly apostolate. This clarion call come to play on the life of many. A prove that God give us all that we have, and place us wherever we find ourselves for the good of others.

Finally, let us be aware that wherever we are, whatsoever we have and whoever we think we are; all come from God. Blossom for the good others wherever you are planted and bear abiding fruits in God.

Peace! Be with you. 🙌

Fada PIUSRALPH prays for you

Let us pray 🙏

All powerful and everlasting God, we are grateful to You for the abundant blessings we received, that which we are receiving and the ones we hope to receive.  Accept we pray the homage of our lips and grant us the grace to acknowledge Your ever abiding presence always. We ask this through Christ our Lord.  Amen

MONDAY OF THE 23RD WEEK IN ORDINARY TIME OF THE YEAR (B)
Mystery of the day: Joyful

"In God alone be at rest, my soul, for my hope is from him. He alone is my rock, my salvation, my fortress; never shall I falter." (Psalm 62:6-7)

When St. Augustine of Hippo in one of his reflective thoughts said: "My soul is restless, until it rest in God." Many may not understand him perfectly until one reads his confession.

St. Augustine following his confession  has tasted the good, bad and ugly sides of life, still no contentment. He had a full share of bodily pleasure, fame and glory of this ephemeral world, but he was deeply in need of solace. He became satisfied only when he encountered God through the homily of his Bishop - St. Ambrose. There and then, he became fulfilled.

This inner longing and thirsty in man for solace and peace of mind can only be found in God. It is on this note that the Psalmist re-echoes the desire of man in these lines:

In God alone be at rest, my soul, for my hope is from him. He alone is my rock, my salvation, my fortress; never shall I falter." (Psalm 62:6-7)

When God is with us, peace cannot elude us for He is the King of peace. When the turbulence of life seems to sweep our feets off from the ground God says "Peace! Be still." He gives to man peace which the world cannot give.

Absolutely, we cannot find peace outside God, for it is in Him that our souls shall be at rest. Search for Him in solitude; for you will certainly behold Him in every situation.

Peace! Be with you. 🙌

Fada PIUSRALPH prays for you 🙏

Let us pray

Almighty God, Yours is the source of who we are. Thank You for the many blessings we receive from You. In our moment of restlessness Grant us we pray peace of mind. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.

FRIDAY OF THE 22ND WEEK IN ORDINARY TIME YEAR (B)
Mystery of the day: Sorrowful
Celebration: Memorial of St. Gregory the Great (Pope, Confessor and Doctor of the Church)

"And no one puts new wine into old wineskins; if he does, the new wine will burst the skins and it will be spilled, and the skins will be destroyed. But new wine must be put into fresh wineskins." (Luke 5:37-38)

Dearest friend(s) in Christ, warm greetings to you with God's choicest blessing.
It is obvious that most at times we find ourselves living on a "double standard" platform. That which pleases God and the other humans.
We tend to forget that we have been bought and the price paid in full through the paschal mysteries of our Lord. Which should have in right sense of it makes us a new creature. That is "a new wine in a new wine skin."

Sadly, we have derailed from this path of eternal and seeks for comfort outside comfort in Christ. This desire pushed us to depart from the light which is Christ and the vision of glory which God has prepared for us.

Let us be watchful and be alert. For Christ Himself knew this right from time immemorial when he proclaimed:

"I am the light of the world, says the Lord; he who follows me will have the light of life." (John 8:12)

We need this light of Christ to dispel the darkness in our path. For when the light comes, darkness is submerged. Then, the taste of our newness in Christ will be irresistible. The glory of God will be fully manifested, even the heathen will seek for conversion.

Finally, let us part our ways from the Old ways of living. Let the newness from the break of dawn of each day gives us the spiritual energy to renew the perfect way of living. For in doing this, everything around us will be renewed.
Peace! Be with you.
