"You forgot the God who gave you birth." (Deuteronomy 32:18b)
Dearest friend(s) in the Lord, I invoke God's bountiful blessings upon you and that which concern you. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.
"Ingratitude is sharper than the traitor's sword." This ancient maxim is the focus of our thoughtful thinking today. Most often in our daily lives we seem to complain over our misfortunes that engulfed us, the betrayal of friendship or relationship, the brokenness of life, the crack situations we experience and many other ill events.
Amidst these, when last did we go to God in gratitude remembering the good things and times we enjoyed? Not at all. We only go to Him when life spells blue with distress, hardship, sickness hitting us hard. That is when we find our way in privacy to commune with Him. Is that not ingratitude?
Today we wish to draw our attention to the "forgetfulness" of the Isrealites (cf.Exodus 32:15-24.30-34)
In reminding them of this ill-attitude which each and every one of us is a victim; the author of the Book of Deuteronomy avers:
"You were unmindful of the Rock that begot you, and you forgot the God who gave you birth. The LORD saw it, and spurned them, because of the provocation of his sons and his daughters." (Deuteronomy 32:18ff.)
Let these Words of God rekindle in our hearts the spirit of being grateful to God and our fellow men. For we easily fail to acknowledge the source of our success when the going is juicy, but bitterly complain when we lost it out.
Be joyous in every situation, and remembering the God who saves us all out of love and care.
Peace be with you!

Let us pray
Almighty and faithful God who dwells in an unapproachable light, we are grateful to You for Your faithfulness and love. We beg of Thee to ignite in us the spirit of thanksgiving in every situation. May sadness and difficulties not blurred our sense of gratitude. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.
God has been so faithful to us despite our shortcomings! I pray that we should not always be ungrateful for the good things he bestow to us. Amen.
ReplyDeleteWithout God, we are nothing. Therefore we must be grateful always for His faithfulness to us and be thankful in all situations because He is in it.
