DIVINE WHISPER with FR. PIUSRALPH EFFIONG, SMMM

TUESDAY OF THE FOURTH WEEK IN ORDINARY TIME OF THE YEAR (II)

Mystery of the day: Sorrowful

Saint of the day
St. Ansgar
He was born at Picardy in France on September 8, 801 in a noble family. His mother died at his early age and he learned through a vision that his mother was with the Holy Virgin Mary. This vision gave him motivation to give more thought about spiritual matters. He then became a monk at an Old Corbie Monastery in Picardy. He did missionary work in Scandinavia, Denmark and Sweden. He also served as the legate of the Pope in the Scandinavian missions. He liberated many slaves captured by Vikings. He only built the first church in Sweden. His success in missionary work was due to his great preaching ability and the austerity and holiness in his personal life. He was very much devoted to poor people and sick persons and served them with all sincerity. He was appointed as the archbishop of Bremear in the year 848 and the same is united with Habsburg See by Pope Nicholas-I. He was called as the Apostle of the North. He died at Bremear, Germany on February 3, 865.

Reflection for the day
Theme:... and He heals.

"If I touch even his garments, I shall be made well." (Mark 5:28)

Healing is one of the central focus of Christ's public ministry. This singular ministry of Jesus attracted multitude to Him, for many followed Him not for the Word of conversion but for healing and other miracles.

Be that as it may, today from the Table of the Word, Evangelist Mark reechoed the event of the healing of the distressed woman with haemorrhage. In it we see "faith in action" when she said:

"If I touch even his garments, I shall be made well." (Mark 5:28).

A rare gesture among many who followed Jesus, even today.
The central message today reminded us of the need to be moved with faith in moment of difficult situation.

For many of us, seems to be doubtful of God's omnipotence due to the ugly situation we may find ourselves. Some feel that God has done with them, and then they decided to stay aloof from God.

Today, beloved in Christ we are asked to put on the "garment of faith" as the woman did. To make a move of faith to God in prayer, and trust solely in Him bearing in mind that He is a "can do God".
Peace, be with you.

Let us pray
Eternal Word, Your word is always true. Grant us we pray the grace to be closer to You always in every situation, so that we may receive healing of our infirmities without delay. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.
