"Beloved: We receive from God whatever we ask, because we keep His commandments and do what pleases Him." (1John 3:22)
Beloved in Christ, greetings to you and your household in the name of the Father - creator of Heaven and earth, in the name of His beloved Son - the Word incarnate and redeemer of the world and in the name of the Holy Spirit our teacher and comforter, Amen.
We are here now through the amazing grace of God whose wish for us is always good.
In our reflection today, we key into the words of St. John in his first letter, who reechoed the admonition of Evangelist Matthew (cf. Matthew 7:7-8)
"Beloved: We receive from God whatever we ask, because we keep His commandments and do what pleases Him." (1John 3:22)
God is all-knowing, He knows our cares and worries, and absolutely nothing is strange to Him.
Today, Evangelist John reminded us the need to present our troubles before Him, though He is all-knowing, we need to ask to show the necessity of the need. "For God who created us without us cannot save us without us" as the ancient thought goes. We need to co-participate with God in day-to-day living. Bearing in mind that, God cannot do for us, what we ourselves can do, He only do what we cannot do.
In the light of this, we are exhort to keep to the detects and ordinances of God, which serve as the caveat to receive from Him whatsoever we ask.
Finally, as the year opens with bountiful blessings, beautiful hopes and aspirations, let us put God first in our daily struggle. Indeed, He will never disappoint us.
Peace! Be with you.
Let us pray
Almighty ever-living God, who through your Only Begotten Son have made us a new creation for yourself, grant, we pray, that by your grace we may be found in the likeness of him, in whom our nature is united to you. Who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.
