Mystery of the day: Joyful
Theme: Be like a child.
"Blessed are you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that you have revealed to little ones the mysteries of the kingdom." (Matthew 11:24)
One of the fascinating attributes of every child is docility. In him you find openess and sincerity, but as the time goes by this attribute assumes a different dimension depending on his environment, upbringing, peer influence, etc.
In childishness we find a sort of disposition to absorb whatever is being taught. That is why the scripture today calls to mind the need to imbibe with child-like attitude towards God's Word. God is often ready to assist us and lead us in the right path but sometimes out of our our weakness and stubbornness of heart we pay deaf ear to His detects and ordinances, thus derailing from the right path.
Beloved in Christ, the fundamental question is how child-like are we? In our day-to-day relationship with one another, how do we exhibit this gesture? Do we see ourselves as all-knowing or beyond corrections? If so then, the revelation by God of His kingdom will not have a place in our heart. Therefore we need to to go down so as to be lifted up.
Finally, the price of fame and glory is humility and docility. That is why God Himself invites us today to posses this child-like attitude so as to receive the divine revelation of His kingdom. Peace, be with you!
Let us prayer
Lord Jesus, we thank You for the many blessings You have given us. Grant us we pray the eye of faith to see that we are nothing but pencil in your hands, so that humility and docility may be our watch word. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.
