"Watch at all times, praying that you may be able to stand before the Son of man." (Luke 21:36)
Today from the table of the Word, Evangelist Luke brings to our consciousness the exhortation of our Lord concerning the end of time saying:
"Watch at all times, praying that you may be able to stand before the Son of man." (Luke 21:36)
This poses a heart-touching question to us: How prepared are we to behold Him as He really is?
In the light of this that St. Paul our brother and apostle of the Gentiles in his first epistle to the Thessalonians Church admonished his disciples to walk upright, and devote themselves to Holy things instead of what will separate them from God. (cf. I Thessalonians 4:1ff.)
He further established that this act pleases God for it is His will. Calling on everyone to know how to posses his own vessel in sanctification and honour; and not in passion of lust. (cf. I Thessalonians 4:4).
Therefore, the message is loud and clear. We need to stir up our efforts in readiness to behold our Redeemer as truly as He is; and not as the five foolish virgins the gospel pericope of today make reference to.(cf.Matthew 25:1-13).
Finally, let us get our lamps ready to lighten our daily paths, so that darkness of sin will not engulf us. For we do not know the very moment the Master will return.
Peace! Be with you. 🙌
